Beginner's Guide

Start with the Requests from Chopper Man and the Main Story. You'll earn characters, collect upgrade materials and raise your OPTC Level to unlock more of the game.

Your OPTC Level

Parts of the Story and Events are locked at first. Your OPTC Level unlocks them as it rises, and you earn OPTC EXP in two ways:

  • completing Requests from Chopper Man
  • pulling Rare Recruits

Each OPTC Level also gives rewards and passive bonus effects. To see what the next levels unlock, tap OPTC Lv. on the Home menu.

Start with the Rookie Requests and the Daily Requests from Chopper Man. They’re the quickest way to raise your OPTC Level early.

Requests from Chopper Man

Use Chopper Man’s requests to plan what to do next. There are several sets:

  • Rookie, Intermediate, Master and Challenge requests teach the game step by step. The first one asks you to clear Ch. 1 of “Fushia Village” in the Main Story.
  • Daily requests reset every day. They give OPTC EXP, plus items for powering up characters: Forbidden Tomes and Training Drinks (see Powering Up Characters).
  • Story Challenges are special requests that recruit Sugo Rare characters, over 30 of them in total.
  • Premium Requests count every other request you complete (Rookie, Intermediate, Master, Challenge, Daily, Special and Panel) and give up to 20 Rainbow Gems in total. They reset at 04:00 PST on the 20th of each month.

Clear all the Rookie requests early. You’ll need them finished and a Co-Op Captain to unlock Co-Op Quests (see Co-Op Quests).

Play the Main Story

The Main Story is where your first Rainbow Gems come from, and its Story Challenges recruit Sugo Rare characters for free. Playing through it also raises your OPTC Level, which unlocks more Story and Events.

Free recruits

Check the Tavern every day. Once a day you can recruit a single character there for free.

After the tutorial, you also get one free 10+1 Sugo-Fest Recruit each day for 10 days. Rookie Character Recruitment Quests also give characters whose abilities help when you’re starting out. Tap a character’s icon in the quest’s TIPS to see their stats and abilities, and pick the quests whose characters match your crew’s type or class.

Let the game play for you

On some quests you can turn on AUTO, and your crew attacks on its own. AUTO+ also uses Specials automatically in the final battle. Tap the AUTO button to switch modes, at the start of a quest or at any time during it.

Some Support characters have an Auto Support Effect, which lets AUTO+ use Specials before the final battle too.

Copy a crew that already won

If you’re stuck on a quest, check cleared crews to see which teams other players used to beat it. Save a crew to your crew log to try it yourself.

If you’re missing a character from a saved crew, check the Unowned Character Exchange. You can trade for them if they’re available in an exchange.

Test your damage

Forest of Training: Clown in Events has 8 quests, each weak to a different class, and the enemies have high HP. Use these quests to test a new crew’s damage.

Co-Op Quests

Co-Op Quests open once you’ve cleared all the Rookie requests from Chopper Man and have a Co-Op Captain. A character becomes a Co-Op Captain when you raise them to level 150 or use a Co-Op Tome on them.

Where to go next

Powering Up Characters explains upgrade materials and where to get them. Browse the characters to see what each one does, and the materials for every item you can feed them. The notices list the current events and Sugo-Fests.
