Arts Gen
Arts gen fills your team's Arts gauges over time. Check which effects add together before choosing your team's arts generators.

What arts gen is
Arts generation, or arts gen, fills the gauge you spend on Arts, True Arts and Super Arts, a little every second. Team-wide arts gen fills every ally’s gauge; self-only arts gen fills just the unit that has it. Instant Arts is different: it adds a chunk of gauge at once, and it always stacks.
A team usually wants about 8 to 10 Arts per second, from two or three units. Treat that as a target, not a rule. Most arts gen comes from an Arts and lasts a set time, so a rate of 5 per second only helps while the effect is up.
Which effects stack
The Arts Gen List sorts generation over time into groups. Effects in the same ordinary group don’t add together; effects from different groups generally do. The Self only, Unique and Builds up groups have special rules, explained below.
| Team | Arts per second while both are up |
|---|---|
| Awoken Juno 7/s + Mako 4/s | 11/s: different groups, so they add up. |
| War Hero Fen 4/s + Spy of Darkness Fen 3/s | 4/s: both are in group A, so only the stronger counts. |
A unit can be in more than one group when it has more than one arts gen effect. Equipment arts gen stacks with unit arts gen, but two copies of the same equip usually don’t stack with each other unless the equip says so.
The Arts Gen List sorts units with timed arts gen into these groups, and each unit’s page shows the others in its group. Some effects have special stacking rules. Check the unit’s skill description alongside the list when choosing a pair.
What each group means
A group describes an arts gen effect, not the unit’s element or every move in its kit. A unit can appear in several groups when its moves provide different effects. Check the move’s description for who receives the gauge, how much they receive each second, and how long it lasts.
For the ordinary groups below, effects in the same group do not add together. Effects from different groups can combine, but only allies who meet each effect’s conditions receive both.
| Group | How its arts gen works |
|---|---|
| A | Team-wide generation from units such as the Fens and Lozze. Two group A effects do not add together. |
| B | Another group of team-wide generation effects, including Awoken Juno’s. It can combine with group A, but two group B effects do not add together. |
| Dark | Fills Dark allies’ gauges. Allies of other elements do not receive this effect. |
| Fire | Fills Fire allies’ gauges, as Berwick’s Arts does. Allies of other elements do not receive this effect. |
| Water | Fills Water allies’ gauges. Allies of other elements do not receive this effect. |
| Earth | Fills Earth allies’ gauges. Allies of other elements do not receive this effect. |
| Light | Fills Light allies’ gauges. Allies of other elements do not receive this effect. |
| Crossover | A shared group of team-wide generation effects found on many crossover units. Two effects in this group do not add together. A crossover unit can belong to a different group, so check its entry. |
| HP level | Fills the gauges of allies whose own HP meets the move’s requirement. An ally below that requirement does not receive the generation, even if the other allies do. |
| Skill | Team generation activated through a unit’s Skill, such as Sublime Supernova Liza’s. Two effects in this group do not add together. |
| No Ailment | Fills the gauges of allies without status ailments, as Yuzuriha’s effect does. An ally affected by an ailment does not qualify. |
| Human/Beast | Generation restricted to certain races. Read the move’s targets: Lione helps Human and Beast allies, while Divine Form Miyu helps Human and God allies. The group name does not describe every member’s targets. |
For example, team-wide generation and Fire-group generation can both fill a Fire ally’s gauge. A Water ally on that same team receives only the team-wide effect.
Groups with special stacking rules
These groups work differently from the ordinary groups above. Sharing one of these labels does not mean two different units’ effects cancel each other out.
| Group | How its arts gen works |
|---|---|
| EX1 · Self only | Fills only the user’s gauge and stacks with other sources. Repeated uses do not add extra copies of the same effect. Veldora is an example. This does not supply gauge to the rest of the team. |
| EX2 · Unique | Stacks with other units’ generation, including other Unique effects, but not another copy of the same unit’s effect. Mako is an example. |
| EX3 · Builds up | Repeated uses can add more of the same generation effect, as with Quickfang Jay’s Super Arts. It also stacks with other sources. Check the move’s duration and any limit; stacking does not automatically make an effect permanent. |
| Uncategorised | The unit has timed team generation, but the list has not assigned it a stacking group. This is not a shared group: two units appearing here are not necessarily compatible or incompatible. |
The list covers timed generation from units’ active moves. Passive and Dream Awakening generation can also help fill a gauge, but those effects are not given separate groups here. Instant gauge gains and equipment generation are separate from these unit groups.
