He obtained his late father's knowledge and will via the Succession of Isliid, which some call the last miracle of Humankind. That also included mastery in his preferred style of swordplay, the far eastern school of Sumera-ryu. However, the knight Roy refused to acknowledge his authority until he retrieved the missing Imperial Blades.
