Harakhte, Sky Prince

Horus, future Lord of the Horizons, was born to Aesys and Osiris, first among the ancient pantheon of the land of Urzyma. Conceived shortly before the Lord of Life had left to investigate an unknown disruption in the fabric of reality, Horus never truly knew his father—even before Osiris had been reduced to a twisted shell of his former self by the God-King. Fearing for her only progeny's life, Aesys sequestered her young son and herself far from the trail of slaughter. She bestowed upon him the name Harakhte, hoping it would help protect him from their pursuers; an infant god's true name was susceptible to scrying magic, and its feeble essence too easily manipulated. Under Aesys's careful nurture, Harakhte grew into a self-assured youth, possessing his mother's passion and devotion and his father's solemnity. But as the prince grew, so did his curiosity and sense of duty; he wanted so desperately to right the wrongs in the world, and to face the true horror of their sworn enemy. It was with trepidation and reluctance that Aesys agreed for him to venture outside of their sanctuary, but deep in her heart knew that she too yearned to uncover the truth behind her husband's demise. Harakhte took nightly excursions into the Nameless Capital, serving as her eyes and ears, returning to her each dawn with harrowing tales. Until the young god saw the twisted nature of fallen Man, and vowed to reclaim the honor of his kin, even as fate struck him down in the blush of youth. Harakhte's spirit persisted, however, and it was the unbending will of a kind priestess that ultimately served as his mortal Vessel.
