Lore

Once upon a time, there lived in a little cottage a sweet little girl named Maeri. She wanted not for company (that was what her fluffy friend Woolie was for), but she yearned to go on wonderful adventures like the ones from her stories. Being a small child, however, had its host of difficulties—chief among them getting eaten in one bite by a ravenous bear or some other horrible monster. And there was also the matter of where; Maeri didn't exactly live in a place conducive to wanton acts of derring-do or saving maidens from monsters. The best Maeri could do was imagine, and how she had a talent for it! For the little girl frequently dozed off during the day, but became lively in the world of dreams. Between the pages of her favorite books pulsed a certain magic— one that brought her above and beyond her comfortable little cottage to snowbound townships and deep, luminous forests. But to passively observe was a chance wasted. Maeri wanted to be a part of these wonderful tales. Surely the people in the stories wouldn't think much of her; they were not real, after all! With the narration set firmly in her mind, the young girl set forth. A glittering snowscape unfolded before Maeri's eyes, framed on either side by frosty forests. Deep within the valley nestled an idyllic little village—the first scene. The adventure was about to begin in earnest. Little did Maeri know, however, how profound an impact she would have in the world she believed was firmly in the realm of relaxed fantasy. For the inhabitants of that snowy world, it was no dream at all...
