Desert Paradise Nyami

Far and away in the arid deserts of Baldemar live the Morokai, a proud and fearsome race of horned humanoids. Though danger is rife in the badlands and capable adults often travel long distances to hunt, their children are given free rein to navigate the world around them, honing valuable survival skills for a rough life ahead. It is here, on a particularly blazing summer day, that a mischievous little Morokai girl grows restless for adventure—when big sister Nyala is away, little sister Nyami finds her chance to play! She was getting dreadfully sticky from the journey, and a running leap straight into paradise was in order. But when Nyami emerged from the pool, the oasis was no more. For one, a jungle this dense was unheard of in such an unforgiving landscape; and for two, the lake had swelled immensely beyond its tiny boundaries, culminating in a velvety stretch of soft sand unlike the harsh desert. Quietly gathering up her equipment, the little Morokai girl squirms. Perhaps now was a good time to go home to big sister Nyala...
